We are pleased to announce the following workshops at our 2014 Open Web Accessibility Conference:
Presenter: Lionel Gadoury - President, Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD)
Lionel Gadoury's presentation will revisit RGD’s best practices guide produced in 2010 in partnership with the Accessibility Directorate of Ontario. Lionel will touch upon the key learnings outlined in the guide, spanning print, web and environmental design, and how the past 4 years have seen tremendous advances in acceptance of these basic principles, but will also highlight how the need to do more is great.
Under the AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) any new or "significantly refreshed" public sector web sites are now required to be accessible. What happens when a member of the public complains about accessibility? What happens when your web site fails to meet the requirements of the AODA? In this talk we examine commonly held misconceptions about accessible websites, public complaints, and the enforcement of the AODA .
There are a wide number of assistive technologies that visitors to your website may use to access information online. Some examples include screen readers, alternative keyboards, electronic pointing devices, sip and puff systems, joysticks and many more.
This session will discuss different aspects of Mobile Accessibility from what is built into the devices themselves, to what you should be doing to make your mobile content accessible. Explore what mobile phone and tablet manufacturers are doing to help you deliver accessible content and learn what resources are available to help you ensure your mobile solution is accessible to the largest possible audience. This session will also discuss how you can apply industry and regulated best practices to different aspects of your mobile presence.
What strategies have your Communications and IT Departments used to comply with the AODA? The purpose of this informal round table discussion will be to generate and share ideas to making the web more accessible to everyone while making it is as easy as possible for organizations to share ideas and resources.
